I am one of those persons that has had no problems with JR, well except those nipples for the vacuum hoses they left out!
I talked to Shawn and only Shawn, by the way, he hasnt been around for almost a year on this board, no MR.DETAIL! He is a nice guy and got everything done when and how I wanted it. I took my time installing my charger and did a good job, and have had ZERO problems with my car, and I run the piss out of it and have run it hard as crap at the drag strip. I have gone through a clutch and syncro set already, but it was worth it!
My car is reliable and fast, and that is the reason I got the charger. In my opinion, the JR Charger is only a good investment for B18C1 engines(GS-R engines for you amateurs)....The Type R shouldnt be messed with, it is perfect the way it is, don't buy one if you want a faster car that is awesome, buy a used SupraTT....
What ever happened to STROKER? HEHEHE

Just a quick question, has anyone with a R simple lowered the compression and then tuned from there? I have never asked that but I wonder how it would react to it since basically the chassis is what differentiates the R from the GSR. I love the car but I/H/E cams (Toda shafts and gears) is as far as I would go. What a ride those things are

Actually in my last couple of posts I mentioned the 97 ITR JRSC'd. They lowered his compression with a new head gasket, and up'd the pulley to 8psi. He's currently hitting around 215-220whp. Also, for some reason his boost gauge will only read 6psi! Hmmm, all Jackson could say was, "its your cams"
SO maybe down the line I will also try to lower the compression, and maybe swap in a GSR intake cam. The gasket I think costs around $550, and the GSR intake cam is around $60new. Hmmm, maybe I'll try that next...

$550 or $50? I think that would be the ticket and you can make some extra dough off the ITR intake cam

Jackson really impressed me at Nopi. I went into the booth and started talking to Shawn and didn't even know it. He was super cool to me. After I found who he was I told him I was one of Jim's customers. I ended up spending he rest of the weekend talking to him. I told him I bought a blower from Jim back in Mar and still hadn't put it ont he car. I told him Jim would not put it on until he had performed an exercism (sp?) on my car. When I did my swap I didn't listen to Jim and I killed my wiring. I told Shawn I had a permanent check engine light and that I butchered the wiring soooooo bad I could not pull codes. When I went to leave Sunday I saw the JR trailer and all the guys standing around so I went over to show Shwan how bad I killed it. After a couple of minutes of talking to the guys and getting ragged cause of the wiring job Oscasr walked over. I told him I had a blower but couldn't put it on until I had the wiring fixed. I told him i couldn't pull codes and he said let me try. He walked off and came back a few minutes later with a scan tool. He climbed in my car pluged it in and got nothing. Thats how bad the wiring is.
I thought that it was really cool of Oscar to take time out to try to fix my car. Here is a guy who, I'm sure has much better things to do, is messing with my car. I don't even have his product on my car and he was willing to help. That to me was above and beyond the call of duty.

I will not personally flame you. When I bought the R I planed on keeping it semi-stock. After a year of driving it with an intake, I decided to add a lighter flywheel, and exhaust. After a few more months I heard of JR making a JRSC that will give the type R 209whp. (Now they say 215whp, but whatever...) Anyway the JRSC just bolts on, and can be removable down the line, and requires no other mods. WELL, to my surprise, I was no where close to the 209whp mark. So then I decided I only live once, and I figure as long as I stay away from major internal work, I will be fine.
I do agree that the GSR makes a better FI car, however one advantage that us R owners have is our other great features. (And no I'm not talking about our interior, or red valve cover, etc... I'm talking about the whole design of the car. Our whole car has been welded differently, they added more structural reinforcements, better suspension parts, better engine work (minus our high compression), and other great features... I got the R because it seem alot higher in their game. I liked the fact so much time, and detail was spent on making this car.
